Our Solutions
Taking an example of an interior door frame which is the most likely scenario for termite problems, we can do the following:-
Totally termites will come along to look at the damage caused by the termites and we can then ascertain if the door frame can be treated and saved from further damage or whether a new frame has to be treated and fitted.
If the frame can be saved, then we will make a convenient appointment to carry out the work. The frame will be drilled all the way around at 20cm intervals which is then injected with a termicide gel. This gel during the course of 24 hours spreads out 3cms around the drilled hole into the wood, creating chemical barriers all around the frame . The floor is then drilled and injected with a termicide liquid that forms a chemical barrier at the base of the frame.
In the event of a new frame being required, we will take measurements of the wood sizes needed and then purchase the new wood.
We have our own highly experienced, city and guilds qualified carpenter, who has worked with us for many years and in the event of a new frame being required, he will be able to remove the old frame, fit the new treated wood after we have treated the surrounding brickwork, re-hang the door, and fit new architraves to complete the work.
The only thing we do not do is painting or varnishing, but if you do not want to do it yourself we can recommend capable, reputable and honest people to do that for you.
The excellent products that we use are of French origen and are fully approved and registered with the Spanish sanitary department, for professional use.
The French sourced Termicides are recognised worldwide as being highly superior for wood treatments and are subject to stringent testing. In France, you cannot buy or sell a house without certificates of termite treatment so only the best will do.
The beauty of these products is that the termites cannot detect the termicide and so carry on touching the wood, oblivious to the fact that they are transporting the product directly back to the nest and the subsequent anilation of the Queen and all of the inhabitants
Testing For Termites
You can do a basic test for termites yourself. With a small screwdriver or a small pointed knife, you can push gently into the wooden architraves and frame to see if it disappears into the wood at the base of the frames or indeed, anywhere around the frame. Termites don´t just enter the wood from the ground. They can start attacking the frame from the sides, the top and in fact, anywhere around the wood. This is why when we do a termite treatment, we drill and inject all the way around the frame, and not just the floor
Beware of a company that just wants to drill and inject into the floor and then come back every year and re-inject !! Believe me, its a great way of ensuring repeat business at your expense !!
Technology We Use
All termites produce large amounts of carbon dioxide and since co2 is heavier than air, it settles to the lowest point in a door frame or cavity.
We are the only termite specialising company on the Costa del Sol that is using the american made, tds, termite detection system, that utilizes a portable carbon dioxide detector pump and probe, to detect for termite activity in the woodwork of your home.
This hi-tech machine detects co2 and signals if termite activity is present in woodwork ,at the time of our inspection. Given the elevated cost of this hi-tech machine,we do make a reasonable charge for an inspection with this technology of €80.00 + iva. This charge will be deducted if we find termites and you go ahead with us to treat the affected woodwork.
10 Year Guarantee
On all treated frames or areas, we give a 10 year written guarantee, complete with a certificate of treatment stamped by the junta de andalucia.
Our clients are our best advertising and at least 70% of our work is through recommendations or repeat business.
